About us
The Multimedia Language Centre was established in 2002 and is a public cultural institution of the Bilingualism and Foreign Languages Office of the Provincial Italian Culture Department.
The Centre has always been dedicated to autonomous language learning and teaching, with a particular focus on German as a second language. Over the years, opportunities for approaching and understanding other languages and cultures have also increased.
The Multimedia Language Centre is a modern library housed in the historic former 'Hotel Esplanade,' which, as early as 1767, was a public meeting place for passing merchants. Its rooms, such as the Hall of Mirrors, the Ladies' Room, and the Conversation Room, shine with the charm of the imperial era and host a wide range of library resources, including print materials, films, audio, digital and online tools, suitable for all ages and levels of linguistic knowledge.
Thanks to its multicultural atmosphere, this unique library is known in Merano as the Language Library "par excellence", very similar to the Multilingual Centre of Bolzano, located at the Trevi/TreviLab Centre, with which it shares the nature of the services offered. An efficient interlibrary loan service is always available between the two centres
